dreamsharkThe genre is Indie Sci-Fi RomCom. There are a surprising number of them. Previous entrants in this category have included Safety Not Guaranteed, Timer, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Looking for a Friend for the End of the World, Another Earth.
Last night's movie was Happy Accidents (1999),starring Marisa Tomei and Vince D'Onofrio. It's a real charmer. I wasn't sure where they were going with the plot until the very end (a big plus in a romcom, a genre that is usually all too predictable). And there were NO special effects (a big plus in a movie that is even marginally sci-fi). Recommended.
