Beautiful! Is it my imagination, or is she not as red and wrinkly as newborns usually are?

Congrats again! Olin has posted a lovely picture of Amber and Lena on FaceBook too.

I think you're right. She's a little smaller than average, so I was looking for signs of what neonatologists charmingly call a "wasted" appearance. And not seeing any hint of that. She seems to be perfectly proportioned and precisely ripe.

Amber unsurprisingly thinks she is the cutest newborn baby ever, noting that she does not have the conehead look you sometimes see with newborns.

A lovely lovely baby, who shares her birthday with my daughter. Congrats, Grandma! (Or will she name you something sweet and funny?)

K.

Don't know - haven't decided yet. I think I like the spelling Gramma better, because that's how most people actually say it. But maybe Lena will come up with something. I hear that often happen.

Wow. So cute. To quote Garry Trudeau, "It's a woman! It's a baby woman!" Also, I love the name Lena, and did I mention cute?

Glad you like the name. They decided to keep the name a secret until the baby was born because they got tired of people criticizing all their name choices. Amber was worried about
Ole and Lena jokes (only a problem in Minnesota, but still...). So far there haven't been any. I guess they were right - once the baby is already named people are less likely to second-guess.

I think the full name has a nice rhythm (trochaic triameter?).
