It took me quite a while, but I finally slogged through Season 3 of Orange is the New Black. Most of it WAS kind of a slog, as this season was a pretty big step down from Seasons 1 and 2. Mostly just the same old unresolved story lines swirling around with no forward movement at all except for the occasional sudden traumatic disappearance of a major character or two (or maybe three). But the actresses are just too compelling to walk away from, and at least one of the unexpected new character pairings this season was pure gold, so I stuck with it. And then, surprisingly, there was a dynamite season finale that left me feeling bereft. You never know how long you'll have to wait for the next season of something on Netflix. So what now?

I don't remember what you've tried already. Martin and I loved Sense8 and Orphan Black; and liked The Almighty Johnsons a lot.

Love Orphan Black (but latest season not available yet on streaming). Almighty Johnsons is our current favorite show, but since Richard likes it too I have to wait for him to feel like watching tv to watch that one (which is once/week at best).

People keep recommending Sense8. I have tried twice to get through the pilot episode and just couldn't. I've been told it gets better, but I think it is the worst-paced pilot ever created - just one person after another after another having a vision of that woman dying. We learn absolutely nothing about any of these people, and about half the running time of the episode seems to be the same gruesome death over and over. Maybe I'll give it one more try, but that is IT.

I also have a spouse that doesn't watch enough television. Oh, the anguish.

I also couldn't get through the pilot for Sense8, but I figured it was the mood I was in. I'm glad to hear that someone else also didn't immediately fall in love.

Lydy and I have been watching Gilmore Girls. It has no science fictional content whatever, though if you squint real hard, you might attribute some of the goings-on to magical realism. I don't know how much you care about that.

I'm still reserving judgment overall, but [livejournal.com profile] guppiecat loves it, and I mostly trust him. And it's available on Netflix streaming, and there's certainly a lot of it.

So it might be worth a try.
