Blast from the Past - in our attic
Feb. 17th, 2016 07:05 pmNow that the back room is temporarily squirrel-free, Richard actually started cleaning it. Along the way, he found this. Anyone recognize it?

It's the Program Book to Minicon 1! Or, as it's referred to within, "The Minicon." This 4-hour event was presented by "The Minn-Stf," which is also described inside the program. There was one panel, one music event (several Filk Songs performed by Nate Bucklin), and a short organizational meeting (presumably to organize the next Minicon, although it isn't actually spelled out what it is supposed to be organizing. Maybe more Minn-stffs). However, there were FOUR author GoHs, including at least two that you've heard of. Quite the thing!

Date: 2016-02-18 02:22 pm (UTC)I mean... um... as Minn-stf archivist, I would very much like to get my hands on this. There is one other copy claimed to exist -- Anthony Tollin says he has one -- but I am not optimistic about ever seeing that one.
Incidentally, Carl Jacobi didn't actually come to the con. He repeated this performance for Minicon 2. As I typed this, I had a sudden burst of skepticism that he was a real person. Well, there is a "Carl Richard Jacobi" Wikipedia article and the person described fits the bill, so probably.
Has Richard found any copies of the Minnesota Science Fiction Society Newsletter? That's what the first 6 issues of RUNE were called. I might also compare those to rings of power if given the opportunity.
