Wow! Suddenly it's mid-summer!

So yesterday afternoon it was cold, dank, blustery, and rainy, as it had been for days, with a temp in the low 60's. Then I saw sunlight flashing in the window, so of course I looked at my watch to see the temperature. It was 72! I stepped outside into something unrecognizable. In a different part of the country I would call it spring, but since "spring" in Minnesota is mostly kind of unpleasant I identified it as a beautiful midsummer evening. The air was warm and damp with a little breeze laden with the fragrance of a million flowers. It was surreal.

I opened up the bike shed and got out my backup bike, Esmeralda. I had experimentally inflated the flat tires earlier in the week just to see if they would hold air, and they were doing that. So I took good old Esmeralda out for a quick sweep of the nearby Pokemon gyms. I always forget how much I like that old Univega. It's 25 years old, but hasn't been ridden much since I got the Marin in 2007. So now that both of them are kind of "old" bikes I might just go back to Esmeralda.

I went out for a walk when the sun appeared, and was surprised by how humid and warm it felt. It didn't feel like summer, though. I wasn't miserable yet.
