The correct answer? No answer. Has anybody else been getting those puzzling calls that start with, "This is Grace, hearing administrator on a recorded line. Can you hear me?"

Usually I hang up the phone as the first words of a  robocall start rolling out, but this one is so puzzling that I have been staying on the line for a few seconds to see what happens next. Nothing, that's what. After about 5 seconds of dead air, "Grace" hangs up. I finally googled it. Well guess what. It's a scam. A scam to capture one more piece of your personal data that you didn't even realize was valuable - your voice saying "Yes."

If your imagination fails you as you try to imagine what scammers could do with that, follow the link. And don't say anything to Grace, just hang up.

Oh, I hadn't thought of that possibility. I just assume they want to steal my money directly...

This world, oi.

Some of those were making the rounds a few years ago. I guess it's a tried and true method. Fortunately, I don't answer unknown numbers on my cell phone, and Grace probably can't get through our ancient tiny PBX and expends her energy talking to the voicemail message.
