This is the Minnstf Halloween Meeting/Party. Costumes and fun clothes are encouraged but not required. It is also a slightly belated birthday party for Barb Jensen and Terry Hughes (there will be cake!) and some sort of music party.  Musicians, bring your instruments!

Big house with fabulous clean attic available for music party (or gaming if musicians would rather play downstairs). Weather permitting, we will also have a fire going on the patio outside, making the smoking area a nice place to hang out.

House is easy to find, right on the corner and lit up with orange lights and 165 lighted pumpkins.Seriously, 165, according to the Pumpkin Master.

I was there and I claim it was glory. Ultimately the music party didn't last due to reasons involving other people's enormously bad planning and then attempts to put that blame on others, but the attic was really quite perfect.

Glory, yay! I thought that the "new" attic might work especially well nonw. (Did you see the photos that DS posted of the attic's transformation? So improved.)

Let's just say that there were some breaks in the communication chain. Not entirely one person's fault or another. The change of venue from attic to living room resulted in shorter music overall, but I think it was a success. Best explicitly Minnstf Music in a long time.

It was a fantastic party! Sorry you couldn't be here. People loved the attic (or were tactful enough to insist that they did). We got a nice little music party going, and it worked great. Other times, people just hung out up there. There's no source of heat in that space except what rises from below, but it was plenty warm even with temps falling into the high-30's outside. In fact, with 15-20 people up there it was a bit too warm and I had to resort to opening windows. As a configurable space it worked pretty well, using a mix of comfy furniture, copious folding chairs, and a handful of folding TV tables (one of my favorite pieces of attic furniture). Thanks for asking. :-)

Fantastic party, yay! (I'm sorry I missed it, but I had to stay at home in Madison this weekend.)

Considering you changed the space in part for parties, I'm glad that the attic now meets your party requirements.

The attic really was glorious. No kindly deception is needed to so describe it. It's a great conversation space and also worked pretty well for music, though the space for mere listeners to sit it was a bit limited. Partly that was because there were a lot of musicians, and that in itself is a goodness.

The rest of the party was fabulous as always, but I think everything benefited immensely by the addition of the attic to the available space.

I went up there several times when it was crowded downstairs, and there was always something different going on.

Good to hear! It's a long trek to the top of this big house, so I didn't check on what was going on up there as often as I should have. I'm very glad that people found it a nice enough space to be worth the climb.

It's a configurable space, and I was (probably unfortunately) working on figuring it out while people were trying to use it. Starting by folding up the big craft table I had forgotten to stow away before the party started and continuing with climate control and lighting tweaks. I think we deployed most of our folding chairs, but I could have brought out a wealth of cushions and pillows to make a listening area back in the reading nook. Do you think that would have helped? That requires a certain number of listeners young and agile enough to get up and down off of cushions on the floor, but probably better than nothing.
