 On Saturday Amber and Lena and I attended a civic Christmas Party at the Milwaukie Center, sponsored in part by Bob's Red Mill, one of the nationally known engines of the Milwaukie, Oregon, economy. Everybody got a raffle ticket for a Bob's Red Mill gift basket. Amber won!  She was so overwhelmed that she immediately forgot about it until I reminded her to arrange to pick up her winnings today. Haven't seen it yet, but I assume it will be something like a 10-year supply of amaranth flour. 

The other nationally known corporate headquarters in Milwaukie is Dark Horse Comics. And there is probably a micro brewery or two. This is Oregon, after all.

The best part was a very nice nylon picnic basket with water bottles and a great rollup picnic blanket/tarp with built-in straps. The actual products included were underwhelming, I think trying too hard to come up with something mainstream. A very boring pancake mix (fluffy buttermilk, not something hard to find like buckwheat)and an uninteresting brownie mix. A large bag of lentilly soup mix, of the sort that tends to sit in the back of the cupboard if you dont make an effort to use it up. The only ready to eat item was a bag of very tasty lemon-flavored granola which Amber promptly claimed for herself.
