Lena's Christmas
Jan. 16th, 2020 03:23 pmAge 5 may be the optimum age for Christmas. 5-year-olds are old enough to remember several Christmases into the past (so the concept of tradition starts to make sense) and understand what "3 more days" actually means. Lena was absolutely wild with anticipation as new presents kept appearing under the tree every day. Deciding which present to open early on Christmas Eve was a life-shaking decision. Every day she announced a different plan, but finally went back to her original choice ("the big one"). It was a good choice, since it was a decorate-it-yourself jewelry box that she could work on with Grandpa.
The first picture here has nothing in particular to do with Christmas - it's just an adorable picture of Lena in her favorite dress and Daddy's shoes, vamping for the camera.

This was also the first year that Lena picked out presents for the rest of the family. That ceramic Santa statue is the one she picked out for Grandpa, and she was almost as excited about having him open it as she was about her own present.

Here's Lena and her Daddy trying out Daddy's new Nintendo Switch. Olin was pleased to be able to introduce her to what is apparently the iconic Nintendo game of all times: Mario Kart. (I wouldn't know - Mario is kind of a Gen X obsession, not a Boomer game).

Of course the babies got lots of kisses from big sister Lena.
