Midnight Barbecue

It's fun having Amber at home. Last night she and her friends had a late-night barbeque in the backyard. Later than they had planned - they forgot that we didn't have a grill anymore. But that didn't stop them; Gillian bravely set out for Home Depot at about 10:30 and came back with a cute little short-legged grill and some lamp oil for the one tiki torch that Amber had managed to unearth from the attic of the garage. While they waited for Gillian, the girls rounded up a great array of decorative candles and decked out the half-built fountain like a Spanish church. I sat around reading a Walter Jon Williams book instead of going to bed, and about midnight I was rewarded with a nice fat brat.
