5:30 Hello a great success!

 By which I mean there were 3 households waving and shouting to each other (counting Pat, who actually just stuck her head out to say hi). But it's better than talking to nobody day after day, right? Richard and I relaxed in our lawn chairs for about half an hour, waving and smiling at everybody who passed by. Some people looked a little confused, but mostly they seemed to appreciate it. 

 

In conference with the couple across the street, we decided to try it again tonight, this time with a beverage. Maybe a nice tropical drink if the warm weather continues.

Supposedly I have always had access to that as part of my USI subscription but have never once been able to get it to work. I suppose I could try again. Have you ever had any luck logging onto USI Wifi outside?

ETA: Nope. As always, total fail. I can see "City of Mpls Wireless" on my phone but cannot connect to it (tells me signal is too weak, "move closer."). iPad was actually able to connect, but connection was weak and unstable and essentially not usable.

I think it is not supposed to be free with our sub, according to B and others. But I think it worked when i was walking yesterday. More later.

When I first signed up for USI Fiber, way back in 2011, a wireless login was included but never worked for me. They may well have dropped that feature in the surprisingly many years since then. But the reason I can't login to the now-unlocked City of Minneapolis network is because it is too weak a signal.
