Van saga continues
Mar. 8th, 2006 05:14 pmThe boys are off trying to buy a new van today. They found one they liked for a reasonable price, but expensive enough ($4000+) that we paid our mechanic to check it over first. Good thing, too. Apparently the mechanic identified $1200 worth of pending trouble (rack and pinion, wheel bearings). Richard and I conferred by cell phone, and decided to ask the sellers to split the difference on the pending repairs. We decided our walk-away price was $3800 and Richard went in to negotiate. If this one doesn't work out, they found another one in Hopkins that they liked about as well. Still, I'm sort of holding my breath waiting to see what happens. I'm kind of excited to have a new vehicle. The one we're looking at right now is a 2000, the newest used vehicle I think I've ever bought. Or made an offer on, anyway. Don't know yet if we're buying it.
Frankly, I'm glad to see the last of the old van. The front-end was getting very wobbly, and I didn't like to drive it.
