The hole in the fence. Or, as I like to think of it, the back door to the cemetery. This very handy 4-foot high triangular doorway has been open for years now, conveniently positioned along a shady park trail behind the Peace Garden. I don't actually go through it very often, but I like knowing that it's there. This lovely cemetery is less than a mile from my house, but the actual back door is chained shut 362 days/year, for no particular reason.
Well, the simple way to get there is to start at the corner of the iron spiked fence on Dupont next to the Roseway. Walk down the shady trail next to the cemetery for .1 mile and there it is. You can also get to it from the back of the Peace Garden. If you walk in to the shady path past the Minneapolis Hiking Club marker you will turn right at the fence. If you enter the trail through the less mosquitoey path by the stand of big white pines, you turn left.
