I have this weakness - I will watch almost any TV show that comes on every night at either 10 or 10:30. Bonus points if there is a continuing storyline. I recently discovered that the formerly trendy, cable-only show "Sex and the City" is now in that category on the WB. It's fluff, but well-made fluff. And it does have a continuing storyline, although it moves so damn fast that I can't keep up with it. Miss 3 days and a whole boyfriend or two will have come and gone. Not that it matters much, really.

So far, although shoe-shopping has been mentioned in passing a couple of times, none of the characters has actually engaged in this unattractive behavior on screen.

Speaking of shoes... I recall that you once posted about some of the local shoe stores that have nice shoes for larger feet. Can you point me to that post, or do you recall which stores are best for that? I could use some new shoes, and Target doesn't carry my size.

I'm guessing that would have been Roberts Shoe Store on the corner of Lake and Chicago. Their motto is "Hardly a foot we can't fit".

Depends on what you mean by "nice." One of my favorite places to buy shoes is Payless, which has women's shoes up to size 12. The shoes are not particularly durable, but I find cheap shoes that fit preferable to expensive shoes that don't.

For better quality shoes in larger and/or wide styles, Roberts is one choice. Schuler's is even better - they carry women's walking shoes in all widths, and a fairly good selection of the kind of shoes that are both comfortable and suitable for work. They are NOT cheap, however. Naturalizer, which has outlets in most malls, are known for making comfortable shoes in a number of widths. If you have wide feet, look for New Balance shoes in any store that sells walking shoes. And, of course, there's always Nordstrom's, which is famous for their huge selection of both styles and sizes.

Thanks! I don't buy a lot of shoes, so I'm okay with spending more for a good pair that will last well.

Sex In The City

Having watched somewhere around two whole episodes and one or two partials that I couldn't stand to finish, I'm sure I can make an absolute definitive statement on Sex In The City.

Go ahead, make all the justifications you want, it's still the worst television program ever seen by anyone, anywhere - and I'm even including Jerry Springer, and reality shows where people eat raw pork entrails.

Don't come crying to me when you've gone on a homicidal rampage.

*snicker* So.... what do you REALLY think?

I must admit, I was partly moved to make this post after reading your earlier rant. Heck, I might not even have noticed that the show was now on local tv if I hadn't seen your post. How do you like them apples, eh? Contributing to the delinquency of a major!

And I'm on the opposite end from where mle292 is coming from. I loved the show. There were times I wanted to throw stuff at the TV while watching it, but for the most part, there was some good stuff. If you manage to watch the whole string of episodes, the final one will become a TV favorite.
