Things are heating up

.... in our favorite local naval skirmish. Custody battle over pieces of war memorial heats up between Minneapolis parks, Minnetonka schools

Watch your back, Superintendent Peterson. You'll be walking the plank yet.

ETA:  Oh, that's the OLD article I linked to above. There was a new article in the paper today that piles fuel on the blazing inferno and introduces us to Joyce Rose, "past commander and historian of American Legion Post 1" who has been fuming about this affair for years. She wants it known that it was NOT her Post 1 that committed the crime; it was a couple of rogue actors acting independently and without the authority of American Legion Post 1.

And the Navy wants absolutely nothing to do with any of it. Yes, it's true that the Navy logged a record of the items being on loan to Minnetonka High School but it's not their fault and they are retroactively erasing the entire transaction from the record. At least that's what I think he said.

Oh, good, they gave credit where it was due.

I don't have the fortitude to read the comments. I am really unimpressed with Minnetonka.

I have held the position that Memorial Day ceremonies at Navy Rock should be resumed. As it happens, Am. Leg. #1 *does* hold such ceremonies. They do it at Pioneers and Soldiers Cemetery. I am not sure if they started doing that after the Legionnaires dismantled the Navy Rock memorial.
