Road Trip Day 1 - Dickinson, ND

A long but uneventful drive got us to a perfectly adequate Wyndham hotel right across the street from a very attractive little dinosaur and mineral museum. Not the world's largest collection of dinosaur bones, but beautifully laid out and curated, and filled in with a lot of reconstructions. I find that a lot more interesting than just a lot of wired together bones.

Neat! I *think* I've been there. Either there or a similar museum in the middle of nowhere between Mpls and the west coast. It was there that I learned that the brontosaurus hasn't been called "brontosaurus" since 1890 or something similarly embarrassing.

The feathery weirdness in the middle photo is so great.

I also love the one of Richard with the statue. It looks like the statue is about to take him into dinner for a fairly formal occasion.

I think the feathery weirdness is some kind of coral. It wasn't necessarily the most beautiful gem display, just one of the better pictures.
