Harris walks!

Since we arrived in Portland a week ago, Grandpa has been working with Harris to convince him to walk on his feet instead of waddling around on his knees. He demonstrated his ability to walk upright about 4 months ago, but after giving it a brief try just decided it wasn't for him and has been knee-walking ever since. He wouldn't walk with his parents, but was willing to humor Grandpa.

Last night, Harris was cruising along the baby gate and just let go and started walking, He walked about 10 steps to the bookcase on his own. Then turned and traversed the living room the long way, once and back and then around the room one more time!  When he reached the chair I was sitting in I reached out to him, but he ignored my hand, turned around and walked back the way he had come. Wow, breakthrough! We clapped and cheered and he appeared quite pleased with himself. Hasn't done it again today, however.

Harris seems to like to think things over, maybe, and not rush into them?

yup, that's his personality in a nutshell. Goal-directed, but not in a hurry. And once he finds something that works for him he tends to stick with it no matter how inefficient it is.
