I took a lot of long looks at the fairyland of snow last night, feeling that it would probably all fall off the trees today. It has not! The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has a Twitter account and they sometimes even answer hyperlocal questions about oncoming weather. This morning they tweeted that even though the snow on trees was very pretty, it might pose a problem if we got high winds tonight, and suggested taking preventative action "to avoid a headache later." A couple of people demanded what they were supposed to do -- shake the snow off all the nearby trees? Get a huge hair dryer and melt or blow the snow off? What?

They apparently meant be prepared for a power outage, but it was pretty funny. Their main concern seemed to be about the southwestern counties.
