Fringe is Coming!

The ever-expanding Minneapolis Fringe Festival is starting on Thursday this year... this coming Thursday! Richard and I will be Fringing again this year, and looking for other Fringers to flock with. A few shows I'm pretty sure I want to see:

Rats in the Walls - Lovecraft + the spectacular Mill City Museum! Can't miss this one!
Dario and Bario
Die Clowns Die - Joseph Scrimshaw
Google, the Musical
Amnesiac Jack

But I've really just started looking. What looks good to you?

I'll have more about the Fringe on my LJ. I have limited number of tickets for press people (no buttons) which means you have to review the play on their site and possibly be on Shockwave Aug 5th to talk about it.

Anyway... in the Fringe for All, three minutes of thirty Fringe shows from June 26th, the most amazing one, a Must See that I probably wouldn't have gone to except for the preview, is

African Roads, American Streets, an astonishing series of dances and music. I'm down for the first show on Thursday at 7.

Great! I'll join you for that one. I'm planning to take the plunge and by an ultra pass this year, which means I need to get started on Thursday. How about catching the 7pm show at the Southern, having dinner on the West Bank, and then hitting Mixed Blood for "Die Clowns Die" at 10pm.

Anybody else interested in a Thursday night on the West Bank?

I've never been to the Fringe Festival; where/how would you recommend starting?

Go look at the website. There's a description for every show, along with show times and venues. Most shows are repeated 5 or 6 times. Once the festival starts, attendees will start posting online reviews. If you can only afford a few shows, you might want to wait until the reviews start coming in to choose what you want to see.

Admission is $12 for one show, $45 for 5 shows or $135 for the unlimited attendance ultra pass. You also have to buy a Fringe button for $3, so that means the first show is essentially $15. Most shows last an hour. You can buy Fringe buttons and any type of admission at any of the venues. So really, all you have to do is show up with money at the show you want to attend.
