Took advantage of the beautiful weather to bike to work, and noticed that the ragweed along the path is in glorious bloom. That means it's fall! But it's only August! Oh, right, I live in Minnesota now. After 30+ years in Minnesota, I have this same revelation every year - fall starts two weeks early here. August is not the hottest month. Ragweed bursts into bloom by August 15.

Oddly enough, after a childhood of raging autumnal hay fever, I barely react to ragweed any more. Now it's the spring tree pollen that gets to me. Since I like fall better than spring, this is an improvement.

I mark fall by the asters.

I assume your "glorious bloom" is sarcasm, since ragweed flowers are green and undistinguished.

It's a "good" year for ragweed. I've got it all over my yard. I wish it weren't so pretty with its nice silvery fernlike leaves. At least it has shallow roots.

Well, ideally I would enjoy the universe more if I weren't allergic to anything. But you take what you can get.
