Roses in the Snow

That's my favorite weather image from the supposed Great October Snow Storm of 2006. The roses are nondescript red ones, determinedly blooming away outside the QLogic employee entrance. The snow: just a decorative dusting of white, looking much like the Ivory Snow flakes in a Hollywood movie. As Great Snow Storms go, it was quite a dud. I enjoyed the token snow showers, was glad we didn't have piles of slush and freezing rain, and I wonder if the weather forecasters feel even slightly sheepish for playing up this weather non-event like it was the Gotterdammerung.
