Our Wedding Anniversary

I love our block on Halloween. With the exception of *ahem* our house, it doesn't run to lavish displays, but most every house has a pumpkin or some such. It's like Times Square out there, with families of trick or treaters bustling up and down the streets, parents hanging out in little groups and chatting while their kids ring bells. A family went by with a slightly embarrassed looking dog wearing a witch's hat (a real canine, not a kid in a dog suit.) "Hey, Batman!" yelled one dad to a pint-sized Dark Knight trudging up the wrong stairs. "That house is dark! C'mon down."

Richard is having a wonderful time answering the door in full blinking, twinkling, strobing wizard's costume. Scared looking little kids struggle up the steps in their Darth Vader masks and fairy dresses while parents yell from the curbside, "Great decorations! Best house we've seen yet!"

It's our 26th wedding anniversary.
