The pile of excess furniture is growing. A few people have expressed "maybe" interest in some of it, but if they don't decide by, say, Monday, I'm going to put it all in the van and start driving it around to places that claim to take furniture donations. Here's what we've got:

1) dressing-table with mirror: very solidly built out of real wood, but with a very beat-up veneer finish. Just needs a coat of paint.

2) our old kitchen table: small table with a fold-up leaf at each end, max size with the extenders up is about 3'x5'. Blond finish. In perfectly good condition except that the finish is considerably worn on the end that we used the most.

3) small coffe-table or low end table, depending on how you look at it. Square top, retro 1970's look. Nice and solid, and not in bad shape; it's just in the way. It's been sitting at the bottom of the stairs to the 2nd floor for several years now holding a big stack of books and magazines. I never intended to PUT it there. I just dragged it home from a yard sale and set it down and before I could find a better place to put it, there was stuff all over it.

4) Nice caneback rocking chair. It's attractive and pretty solid, but there is just no good place to put it.

5) retro plaid couch. It's sitting in the basement, covered with piles of games. I think it's in pretty good shape; it's just ugly. Perfect for porch or cabin or kid moving out to a first apartment.

Assuming nobody wants any of this stuff... anybody have any suggestions for places to donate it to?

I'm definitely interested in your old kitchen table. Would this evening be too soon to drop by and pick it up, assuming nobody else has dibs on it?

This evening would be GREAT! It's just sitting in the middle of the living room, taking up space. Give a quick call before you come over to make sure somebody is here. The table has generated more "maybe" interest than anything else, but it's first come first served at this point.

I don't want any of your stuff because I'm in a never ending struggle to have less stuff, and I'm losing the battle. BUT, you are definitely free to borrow a monitor until such time as you no longer need it.

We are in Saint Louis Park if you'd like to pick it up today or tomorrow, my cell phone number is six won too, sebenfore seben fivenein NEIN zed.

I had great luck putting a listing in Craig's List. Under portland for-sale, they have a for-free category. I put in our address and had piled the stuff in the driveway. I even piled little things that weren't listed in the ad, next to the big stuff, and most of that went, too.

But you can arrange with people to pick stuff up, too.

I think I have an interest in the vanity. I'll have to check with Abby, but she's here now, so that should be fairly speedy. We were going to give her the one we inherited from Tamera (1st floor, from whom we inherited Ginger the dog) but Toni has returned and intends to claim that one. This might be an excellent replacement.

Oh, and while I'm thinking about it... Thorin escaped on Thanksgiving without my asking him about two items I thought you guys might be interested in: A slide projector and a starter Harry Potter game. I don't know if Richard is still using multiple projectors regularly, any interest in another? If you have the game, extra pieces might be handy. If not, you might be interested in having one to look at. Seems worth asking.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you want the vanity. We can bring it over there. It's sitting on the front porch and is thoroughly in the way. It is such a solidly built piece of furniture that I would just hate to throw it out.

As for the other items - R says he has "a few" Harry Potter games, but if you want to get rid of one he's always happy to take games. If he ends up with dups he can give them away. As for the slide projector: he'd be totally thrilled if it's a carousel projector, happy if it's "a good strong single-slide projector" and not terribly interested if it's just another "150-watter." If we bring you the dressing table maybe he can take a look at it. I'm sure I couldn't tell by looking whether an old projector is a "good strong one" or not, and I'm guessing you probably can't either. :-)

btw, [livejournal.com profile] thorintatge had a wonderful time on Thanksgiving - thanks for having him!

Yes.

Abby is indeed interested in the vanity. Thanks so much for being willing to deliver it.

The projector is a Kodak Carousel 760H, according to the box. Always glad to have him. Hope Amber can come a day or two early and make Corwin and Dee's wedding.
