Stuff to give away
Nov. 25th, 2006 12:44 pmThe pile of excess furniture is growing. A few people have expressed "maybe" interest in some of it, but if they don't decide by, say, Monday, I'm going to put it all in the van and start driving it around to places that claim to take furniture donations. Here's what we've got:
1) dressing-table with mirror: very solidly built out of real wood, but with a very beat-up veneer finish. Just needs a coat of paint.
2) our old kitchen table: small table with a fold-up leaf at each end, max size with the extenders up is about 3'x5'. Blond finish. In perfectly good condition except that the finish is considerably worn on the end that we used the most.
3) small coffe-table or low end table, depending on how you look at it. Square top, retro 1970's look. Nice and solid, and not in bad shape; it's just in the way. It's been sitting at the bottom of the stairs to the 2nd floor for several years now holding a big stack of books and magazines. I never intended to PUT it there. I just dragged it home from a yard sale and set it down and before I could find a better place to put it, there was stuff all over it.
4) Nice caneback rocking chair. It's attractive and pretty solid, but there is just no good place to put it.
5) retro plaid couch. It's sitting in the basement, covered with piles of games. I think it's in pretty good shape; it's just ugly. Perfect for porch or cabin or kid moving out to a first apartment.
Assuming nobody wants any of this stuff... anybody have any suggestions for places to donate it to?

Date: 2006-11-26 05:24 pm (UTC)Oh, and while I'm thinking about it... Thorin escaped on Thanksgiving without my asking him about two items I thought you guys might be interested in: A slide projector and a starter Harry Potter game. I don't know if Richard is still using multiple projectors regularly, any interest in another? If you have the game, extra pieces might be handy. If not, you might be interested in having one to look at. Seems worth asking.

Date: 2006-11-26 07:50 pm (UTC)As for the other items - R says he has "a few" Harry Potter games, but if you want to get rid of one he's always happy to take games. If he ends up with dups he can give them away. As for the slide projector: he'd be totally thrilled if it's a carousel projector, happy if it's "a good strong single-slide projector" and not terribly interested if it's just another "150-watter." If we bring you the dressing table maybe he can take a look at it. I'm sure I couldn't tell by looking whether an old projector is a "good strong one" or not, and I'm guessing you probably can't either. :-)
btw,
Yes.
