Skating Expedition

minnehahaK and I did make it down to the Depot for Saturday afternoon skating. It is a lovely rink, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I actually could still skate. I got these new skates last year and still hadn't gotten comfortable with them by the end of the winter. I think it was because I bought the skates in February, and the ice on the local ice rinks was seriously disintegrating. Now that I've had a chance to skate on flat, smooth ice, I now have the confidence to go on.

On the downside, the rink was terribly crowded. I'd like to try it again on a weekday evening, once they start being open on weekdays.

Good going!

Skating is one of those sports to which I have an actual aversion, springing from a bad childhood experience in which I burned my hand on a pipe while trying to steady myself on a pair of new skates.

I'm suffering great envy. I can't even stand on skates of any kind. I love the idea, but my knees won't manage it. Cool to think of you gliding about though.
