House is warm now, thanks
Feb. 10th, 2007 11:31 amWhat, y'all are still interested in the story of the malfunctioning furnace? That's sooo last night.
The poor repair guy drove in from Forest Lake, arriving sometime after I went to bed, which was at 2am. I guess he replaced the igniter and one other part, charging for the parts but not the service call or labor. Which seems fair, considering that the company supposedly fixed the problem the first time they were here.
Anyway, the furnace seems to be working fine now. Hard to know for sure because the failure mode was intermittent. There was never anything wrong with the heating unit itself: it just wasn't coming on sometimes. But, so far, so good. The house is warm and the furnace is chugging away.
And, yes, I guess that was pretty good service, although I still would have preferred that they fixed it correctly on their first shot. For other people with a residential boiler powered by fuel oil: the company is called Owens. They're the ones that Yocum Oil refers you to if you call them for service.
