What is it with cats in the fall?

dreamsharkI walked to the drugstore and back was accosted by several cats that acted like they were high on catnip. Very pretty cats - 2 orange tabbies and one spectacular Siamese-tabby. They were all acting squirrely and excited, demanding to be petted, pouncing around, rubbing their heads on the ground, etc. It's not kitty mating season is it?
