Where oh where can it be??

I've misplaced my iPod shuffle. I've looked everywhere I can think of where it could possible be, but no sign of it. The last time I am 100% certain that I had it was one my way home from work yesterday. I remember taking it off and (presumably) putting it in my purse before going into the hair salon to have my hair cut. I'm 99% sure that I put it back on when I left and listened to it on the long, slow, snowy drive home. In fact, I think I lingered in the car for a few minutes after I got home to listen to the end of something, which would mean that it definitely made it into the house. After that... I was doing things with the old shuffle to set it up for Richard to use, and I'm pretty sure I had them both together in my office. I dimly recall setting my iPod aside so I wouldn't get the two of them mixed up. But if that's a true memory, it HAS to be in my office somewhere. It's not anywhere I can see.

I'm wondering if it somehow slipped off the desk into the wastebasket. I hope not, because thorintatge industriously emptied all the wastebaskets that evening and the garbage man has taken the garbage away. It seems unlikely, since the wastebasket is usually tucked well under the desk, but I just can't think of where else to look.
