Two great baby breakthroughs in the past few days. Suddenly both babies have learned how to HOLD THEIR OWN PACIFIERS, which is amazingly helpful when you find yourself alone with two hungry babies. (Don't judge: pacifiers are apparently now good for babies again, esp preemies who need to develop their suckling muscles. It can be hard to keep up with the pendulum swings in baby advice)

In an unrelated development, both boys have outgrown their preemie size sleepers! Newborn sizes are still a bit baggy, but fitting better every day.

ETA: Amber says that the one preemie sleeper we have in house was ALWAYS a little short for them, even though it claims to fit up to 7 pounds. Even though they were a little over 5 pounds at birth they were tall and had big hands and feet, like puppies. But it was possible to cram at least the slightly shorter baby into the preemie sleeper at first - now it is all but impossible.

On Saturday Amber and Lena and I attended a civic Christmas Party at the Milwaukie Center, sponsored in part by Bob's Red Mill, one of the nationally known engines of the Milwaukie, Oregon, economy. Everybody got a raffle ticket for a Bob's Red Mill gift basket. Amber won!  She was so overwhelmed that she immediately forgot about it until I reminded her to arrange to pick up her winnings today. Haven't seen it yet, but I assume it will be something like a 10-year supply of amaranth flour.

The other nationally known corporate headquarters in Milwaukie is Dark Horse Comics. And there is probably a micro brewery or two. This is Oregon, after all.
