I never realized that getting a new roof was so much like buying a new car. What an ordeal. Even complete with that tired old schtick, "Well, I LIKE you folks so I'm going to call my boss and see if he'll let me give you an even BETTER deal - if you sign a contract today..."  Blecchh.  Now I remember why it's taken us so long to get the damn thing fixed.

Mad Men Season 2 is out on DVD!  At two per week it's not going to take long to burn through them, though.

More mice in the house, but this time they're a little dumber than the previous batch. Looks like at least one ate the poison. But what on earth was it doing HALFWAY UP THE ATTIC STEPS? Trying to get closer to heaven before expiring?

Sore knee keeping me from doing much of anything physical this week. Not sure why. A little too much biking on Sunday, I guess.  I walked over to the CVS to get a knee brace, got back to work and discovered I'd bought the wrong size.  *sigh*

CVS is no longer carrying my favorite allergy med, clemastine fumarate (Tavist). I usually buy the generic house version, typically called something uninspired like "12-hour Allergy Relief." It has been harder and harder to find over the last couple of years, no idea why.  Supermarkets dropped it a long time ago. Walgreen's used to carry a house brand, but most of their stores don't have it any more. The only store that I know of that still carries it is Snyder Drugs, and who knows how long they will be around.  There are shelves and shelves of loratadine under multiple brand names, presumably because it only came onto the OTC market a few years ago and is still considered a sexy product. Unfortunately, it does not work for me at all, not even a tiny bit. But I found a new one that I've never seen before: Ceterizine. It's packaged very oddly - just a few tablets in a great big box. Supposedly, each tab lasts for 24 hours (!) so I guess they figured it deserved a big box of air to make up for the need for fewer tabs.

Amazon sells the generic version of Tavist for $13.25 for a 100-unit container.

Good tip - thanks

Wow, is there anything Amazon doesn't sell? I had been wondering if i could buy online, but Internet pharmacies always seem so skeevy. It never occurred to me to look on Amazon.

I have ordered a bottle (which is much nicer than those obnoxious bubble packs anyway). Thanks!

To be honest, neither did I. I was just looking to see about availability on the Internet, and the Amazon link was one of the first ones in the list.

I don't think Amazon is actually selling it, just fronting for the real vendor. But it means you have recourse if something goes wrong.

Our knees proving, as has been speculated, that we are each other in clever plastic disguises?

In most ways I am perfectly happy to be similar to you, but I think I'll pass on that one.

My knees are mostly in pretty good condition for my age/weight, but occasionally one will get a little swollen or sore from overuse. I do preventive things like wrapping them in Ace bandages and refusing to do exercises like the lunge, and so far they've always recovered. (knock wood)
