Friday

From my "high points of the day" journal:

10:38 AM shopping for groceries at Costco. Sometimes we forget what a joyous luxury it is to walk into a store hungry and simply pick up everything that looks good. Add in the discount warehouse perception that you are saving massive amounts of money with every purchase, and you have real shopping bliss. For once I appreciated having the game party at home so I had an excuse to buy that giant pumpkin pie (only $5.99!).

[But now we are faced with the obligation to eat a roast chicken, 2 pounds of mozzarella cheese, a huge box of strawberries, and about 4 quarts of broccoli florets before they go bad. What was I thinking?]

*snerk* Right there with you. Love those stores, but dang!

My personal favorite are the Sam's Club Muffins. Blueberry or corn. I'm not that picky. :D

You know that pumpkin pie flavor in your Costco pie? I made that.:)

Whoa! What exactly is your job, again? I know that you have moved beyond cheese, but I didn't know you were designing pie flavors for Costco!

The pie was pretty decent, btw. The crust was a little undercooked, but the filling was just fine. The entire manhole sized pie was gobbled up by the end of the evening.

I am the product developer for a company that supplies baking ingredients. We work with a lot of spices, seeds, alternative grains, we do not do much wheat flour. We do import and process literal tons of cinnamon in a matter of hours though. Costco is an important client for us and we grind and blend their pumpkin pie spice. I bought one of those pies a while back because it was cheap and I wanted to try it as a finished product.:)
