Being forced to watch a 2-minute video to learn how to do something that could have been described in one sentence: "From Google Drive, open settings and click the box next to the Offline option."

The 15 seconds spent showing me how to get to Google Drive? WTF? If I didn't know how to access Google Drive, I would have no need to edit those files offline, would I? Idiots. The condescending explanation of what "offline" means? Okay, maybe there are some young people today who have never heard of that concept. Fair enough.

It would be nice if there was an option to pick computer savvyness before getting an answer from the help menu. I think they put those videos there for people to link to when someone's least savvy relatives need computer help.

As soon as I figure out that some site' or program's help is useless, I start typing my questions into Google (or some other search engine) and take my pick. Doesn't always work, but it's moderately reliable.

Ironically, it was Google itself that inflicted this particular video instructional on me.

Though to be fair, when I went back and looked at the page there turned out to be a short text description (down at the bottom of the page and under a folded up menu item, but I should have looked further before clicking on the stupid video thingy that popped up in my face.)

One of the annoyances of working in video is that many of the people who know the tools well think in video -- so far more of the useful content is in video. Which is slow to go through, as you say. (A few things are useful in video; video capture of exactly how to do something complicated is sometimes better than a written description, for example.)

Oh yeah, sometimes video instructions are life-savers. A couple of recent examples:
- How to replace the disk drive in a Lenovo laptop
- Ways to tie an African-style baby wrap (not a food item!)
