Here is my first stab at a nice double-layer pleated fabric mask. It looks nicer than the t-shirt mask, but is less comfortable to wear, hard to put on, and of course far more time-consuming to make. I used 6" of elastic for the ear loops just as the pattern said, but I guess that was too short because they kept folding my ears over and sliding off. So I added a wide piece of elastic across the back. That keeps the mask in place, but is a PITA to put on and manages to be both too tight and too loose at the bridge of the nose. I think the t-shirt mask does a better job of conforming to the face and blocking air passages.

I had the same problem with a no-sew mask I tried: the loops pulling back off my ears.

Meanwhile, I go out seldom and have just been tying a scarf over my face.
