Depressing task of the day
Apr. 6th, 2020 02:21 pmCancelling airline flights for our planned May trip to Portland.
It's more complex than it sounds because I booked the trip as two separate one-way flights on two different airlines using two different forms of travel points. I cancelled the Delta half (online) with no difficulty, but the final result is a little unclear because I booked the flight using Ultimate Reward points from the Chase travel portal. I was hoping they would just refund my points, but I think what they actually did was push the whole thing through to Delta, which credited me with a travel voucher. I'm fine with that as long as there are no change fees.
The other half is more confusing - I used American Airlines "miles" to book a flight on Alaska, so I'm not sure who has to give me the refund (or more likely, travel voucher). American, I think. Their online FAQ indicates that they are allowing free changes to cash flights in my travel window, but has nothing to say about award flights.
