Nobody is wearing masks outdoors anymore. Which is probably fine in general. But this still makes me cringe. DON'T BREATHE INTO EACH OTHERS' FACES, PEOPLE! Have we learned nothing???
It's strange, because I've just *started* wearing a mask outdoors, largely because except for riding on the bike trail, I've just started *being* outdoors.
It does seem to be very difficult to get infected outdoors, as more and more "health experts" are reluctantly admitting. But if you really wanted to catch the virus outside, this would be the way to do it.
I'm mostly squicked out by people facing each other, so they are shooting droplets and aerosols and God knows what else directly into each other's faces. Facing each other in a circle is even worse, as they are creating a small dead air space among the 5 of them and doing their best to block the breezes from getting into it with their bodies. I think the angle is more important than the exact distance. Even a small breeze quickly disperses whatever comes out of your mouth if you aren't aiming it AT each other.
Think about people smoking outside. Considerate smokers aim their effluvia away from the people they are with, and it's usually not a problem for non-smokers because the smoke disperses quickly. If 5 people sit in a circle and blow smoke directly at each other, I would hope that all of them are people who enjoy inhaling smoke.
