That's the handy-dandy home sample alternative to a colonoscopy. Good to know.

Other than that, it hasn't been a great week. Dentistry, sewer line woes, and second-hand tragedy.

Why FIT and not Cologard? A quick read says that FIT only tests for the presence of blood and cologard actually looks for signs of cancer.

I just had my physical yesterday, and my doctor insisted that at age 45 I should really get a colonoscopy and not just do cologard. I think he said that he'd be ok with using cologard as interim tests after a negative colonoscopy, before the 10 years are up to be due for another colonoscopy. So he didn't exactly present it as an alternative, but an addition. Although we also got the impression that if someone flat out refused to do a colonoscopy, he'd recommend cologard as better than nothing.

I failed colonoscopy prep twice in 2007 and then wandered around being harassed by medical professionals and having anxiety dreams of BOWEL CANCER GROWING UNDETECTED and I was very grateful when I was offered FIT tests every year, let me tell you. Also they don't take up days of your life and they don't make you miserable with disgusting evil solutions. So.
