I decided to take today off to Get Stuff Done. The first and most important thing, which I have been putting off for something like 5 years, is to call at least 3 roofers to come out here and make an estimate. I hate this stuff. Anybody have a roofer that they would recommend? Suggestions on how to pick the Right One? [livejournal.com profile] lsanderson has given me his recommendation at least 3 times, but if he wants to repeat it again here that would be great.

If I'm good and get stuff done in the morning I plan to go to a museum in the afternoon. Probably one of the following: Bodyworks at Science Museum, Calder Exhibit at Art Institute, or the Bakken Museum (which is just across the lake from here, but never open when I'm not at work).

I also plan to do exciting things like make appointments for teethcleaning and checkup, balance the checkbook and maybe tear up a little carpet. I guess I don't need sunshine for any of those things.

Sounds like my vacation days. Spending your free time getting things you really don't want to do done. I spent my last vacation packing to move out of my condo. How fun. Well I guess we have to look at it like this, perhaps they aren't the most exciting things to do but they are important and that should make you feel good right? I'll just keep telling myself that. :-)

jbru and i were very satisfied with sela for our roof. they are not cheap, but they were very good, very quick, did a great job and cleaned up after themselves. i highly recommend them.

they also didn't waste time going around annoying the neighbors with the 'we are in your area today and will give you a discount if you hire us now' crap.

We had Sela do some work for us about 20 years ago. They did a good job, but did NOT clean up thoroughly when they were done! I wasn't sure they were supposed to without having it written into the contract, but I've found out from people since that leaving broken pieces of 2x4 and nails all over the place was not very professional. Even though it's been 20 years, I'm reluctant to go back to them because of that. I've heard mixed reviews about Sela since - some not so happy as you.

The clean-up was in our contract, so that might be a factor.
